What is a device id?

A device id is a unique ASCII identifier that specifies the type of hardware on which you are attempting to load software and is used to cross-reference information about the device stored in the registry.

What is an order id?

An order id is a unique number that represents an individual purchase request for a software product.

What is a license key and where does it go?

A license key is a code provided to you by XRAM Solutions that allows the software product(s) to operate the specified licensed software products. The license key is a unique combination of characters provided to you by XRAM Solutions at the time of purchase.

I downloaded the *.msi file from the website (Handango, Pocketgear, or Smartphone.net). What do I do now to get it to work?

Congratulations on selecting an XRAM Solutions software product!

Now that you have your installation file (*.msi) you can use the following steps to install the software on your Pocket PC.  Let’s use the Sudoku Pocket PC product as an installation example.

  1. In Windows Explorer, double-click the .msi file downloaded as a trial or a purchased product.   The Sudoku Setup Wizard displays.

  1. Click Next.
  2. The License Agreement displays. Please read and then select I Agree if you agree with the end user license agreement.

  1. Click Next.

  2. Now you need to select the folder on your PC where you want to install your product.  The installation on your PC will install the supporting files needed to automatically install the product on your pocket pc or smartphone.

    You can Browse to select the directory location and use Disk Cost to ensure that you have enough storage space to successfully install the software.

  1. Click Next.

 

In order to install the software you purchased on your Pocket PC, make sure that your Pocket PC is connected via ActiveSync to your PC with the cradle or its USB connection wire or the Infrared port.  Then proceed with the next installation step.

  1. The Confirm Installation window displays. Click Next.

  2. The software installation begins on your PC.

  1. When the following Alert box displays, click Yes. 
    This begins the installation of the software onto your pocket pc or smartphone.

  1. When the following Alert box displays, click OK.


  1. On your Windows PC, click Start - All Programs - XRAM Solutions - Sudoku - License Product. The XRAM Solution License Installer window displays.

    At this point, you have two ways to license your XRAM Solutions software.
    A)
    You can use the License menu with the email you receive from XRAM Solutions.  This email will be an email you receive when you previously licensed the product or it might be a license provided to you from XRAM Solutions directly.  Option B is the preferred option.
    OR
    B)
    Complete the fields on the License Installer window and let the software license itself automatically.

Option A - License

  1. Please ensure your pocket pc or smartphone is attached to your PC and ActiveSync is active and connected.  If your ActiveSync is configured to disconnect after syncing, the license install process will fail. 
  2. On the License Installer window, click License - Install - From Email on the menu.

 

  1. This is the blank area where you cut-and-paste the license information emailed to you by XRAM Solutions.

  1. Once you have pasted the license information into the space provided, click OK.
  2. Your software is now licensed.  Click OK.  If you used Option A, your software licensing is complete.

Option B – Auto-Licensing (Requires internet connectivity)

  1. Please ensure your pocket pc or smartphone is attached to your PC and ActiveSync is active and connected.  If your ActiveSync is configured to disconnect after syncing, the license install process will fail. 

 

  1. Use the Product pull-down menu arrow to select the Product from the list.
  2. Accurately enter the Order ID or reference number that you received in the email from the company where you purchased the product.  For example, Handango uses a reference number and Pocketgear/Smartphone.net uses an order id.
  3. Once the Order ID or reference number is entered, click the Retrieve button.  A number displays in the Serial field.  This number is specific to your pocket pc or smartphone device.

  1. Accurately enter your email address in the Email Address field.  You must use the same email address that you used when you purchased the product.

 

  1. Click OK and the following alert box displays.
  2. Your software is now licensed.  Click OK.  If you used Option B, your software licensing is complete.

 

  1. If you attempt to use the same license on more than one Pocket PC or Smartphone, you will see this window.  Your XRAM Solutions software product is device locked and cannot be used on multiple devices. 

How do I install Loan Companion on my (smt5600) Windows 2003 smartphone?

How do I install my product on a smartphone device if I only have a .CAB file?

The downloaded file needs to be moved to your phone and selected with file explorer on your phone. If you look at the .CAB file on your PC, the Windows OS interprets it as a zip file. If you unzip the file and attempt to install the components on the phone, the installation will fail. You will only see an xml file if the Windows operating system automatically decompresses the .CAB file. What you need to do is move the .CAB file to your smartphone, use file explorer on your phone, and select the .CAB file. It will auto install for you. Please follow these detailed steps to install the cab file from the desktop to your Smartphone:
  1. Save the .cab file to your desktop computer
  2. Connect your Smartphone to your desktop with the USB cable and Active Sync
  3. Right-click the Active Sync icon in the system tray next to the clock (lower right corner of screen) and select Explore
  4. Click on My Smartphone or My Device to display the contents of the mobile device and click the Temp Folder to open the contents of this folder. If you don't have a Temp folder, any folder will do, you just need to remember where it is located.
  5. Open another explorer window for the desktop computer (right-click on start, select Explore) and browse to the location where you saved the .cab file
  6. With both Explore windows side-by-side you can drag and drop (click and hold) the file from the desktop computer to the Temp folder on your mobile device.
  7. After the file is copied take the mobile device off the cable or cradle (disconnect from Active Sync) and using file explorer on the device browse to the Temp directory and find the .cab file that you copied.
  8. Run this file once and the software installs.
